" – Peu importe d’où l’on vient. Il n’y a pas de tonique. Le thème et son développement ne sont qu’un mirage…
Il y a une musique toujours inattendue.

– Dieu les a créées, elles aussi…"

Laplace Tiger

Alexandre Schubert, born in Bremen in 1979, is a musician and composer who explores cross-genre interfaces between acoustic and electronic music.
"Laplace Tiger" (2009) is a 12 minutes' work for drum kit, arm-sensors, live-electronics and live-video. The concept of the piece is a very structured progression of about 100 scenes, which are clearly defined - but within these cells there is a great amount of freedom for the performer on a micro level.

Reminds me when, in early 80s, our friend  David Linton, as a one-man percussive band, played drums with the american choregrapher Karole Armitage, using noise-gates on each drums to generate samples looped on cassette players, (at that time, the technology was not so wide!). "Orchesography" was the LP he did in 1986, using this process, released on Neutral Records, the NYC independant label founded by Glenn Branca. (one the "Orchesography' tracks is listenable on this WFMU show)
A very rare record that I highly recommend!

Amazing performance!
